During his recent visit to VinUniversity, Rajib Shaw, Professor at Keio University, donated a collection of his authored and edited books to the VinUniversity Library. The donation aims to support teaching, learning, and research on disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable development at VinUniversity.

The book donation took place as part of Professor Shaw’s working visit with the VinUni Center for Environmental Intelligence (CEI). During the visit, he met with faculty and researchers to discuss a joint research proposal on disaster early warning systems in Vietnam, focusing on strengthening community preparedness and integrating scientific data with local knowledge to improve disaster response.
The discussions also explored broader opportunities for collaboration between VinUniversity and Keio University in areas such as climate adaptation, disaster risk governance, and sustainability research.

Professor Shaw is an internationally recognized scholar in disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. At Keio University, he serves as Professor in the Graduate School of Media and Governance. Over the past two decades, he has worked extensively with global institutions including the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). His research focuses on community-based disaster risk management, urban resilience, and early warning systems, particularly across Asia.
Professor Shaw has authored and edited more than 50 books and numerous academic publications on disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. He has also contributed to international policy processes and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness in vulnerable regions.

By donating his books to the VinUni Library, Professor Shaw makes key knowledge and global perspectives on disaster resilience more accessible to students and researchers in Vietnam and at VinUni. The gesture reflects a shared commitment between VinUni and Keio University to advancing research and education that addresses pressing environmental and societal challenges.
We are grateful for Dr. Shaw’s willingness to work with VinUni and look forward to many fruitful collaborations in the future.
