Dr Tran Thi Du Chi is currently a research faculty at Vinmec-VinUni Institute of Immunology, VinUniversity, College of Health Science. She obtained her BSc in Biology from VNU – Hanoi University of Sciences, MSc in Enzyme Engineering, Bioconversion and Microbiology from University of Sciences and Technology of Lille and PhD in Physiology and Biology of Organisms – Population – Interaction from National Museum of Natural History of Paris, France. She worked for 16 years as faculty member at the faculty of Biology, VNU-Hanoi University of Sciences. In order to pursue her interests in multidisciplinary research she moved to work, first in the National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology (NHDV) and subsequently to the Vinmec Healthcare System. At Vinmec, she served as the site-PI role of the Vietnam Colorectal Cancer and Polyps Research (VinCAPR), a collaborative study between Vinmec, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).In the framework of VinCAPR, the first population-based colorectal cancer screening in Vietnam with 103,542 residents of Hanoi screened between 2018 and 2021 was conducted, followed by case-control studies to identify risk factors for colorectal cancer. Through VinCAPR, a database and biobank of 71,952 biospecimens were also built for the development of additional studies. Based on VinCAPR resources, Dr Chi has been conducting GWAS and TWAS studies to identify susceptility genes for colorectal cancer and polyps. Her research focus on applying molecular and genetic epidemiology to investigate mechanisms of carcinogenesis.
